Starlink is a project of global Internet coverage by satellite of SpaceX. According to Elon Musk, based on India’s satellite, Internet service may be launched soon.
In response to a question from OnesetDigital on Twitter, Elon Musk said: “Just figuring out the regulatory approval process”. The statement implies that the company SpaceX is exploring the domestic regulatory approval process.
In November 2019, SpaceX began launching its first satellite and serving some customers with a “$99 one-month beta program.” Recently, 100,000 terminals have been sold to customers. The project will take advantage of a constellation of satellites to provide global bandwidth.
As TechCrunch points out, the company has launched more than 1,700 satellites since its first launch. The number of terminal orders has reached more than half a million orders, over 100,000 terminals have been sold.
Customers in difficult-to-access terrain such as remote areas will have to pay an upfront fee of about $499. These locations will often have limited broadband access, even with no signal in some places. Therefore, the fee will be used to install the necessary equipment for this process, including the starter kit containing the ‘Dishy McFlatface’ user terminal, the WiFi router, the power supply, the cable, and the tripod.
The company’s goal is to launch about 30,000 Starlink satellites into orbit and have more customers, specifically over 1 million people.
