Apple has received a lot of criticism from its employees, and an open letter was sent to the company by several employees recently. The content in the letter is the request of the employee who wants the company to change the company’s policies.
#AppleToo # is the name of this movement, it is named after the most famous movement called #MeToo – which shares its own story and exposes special perpetrators at work. This movement is intended to condemn issues that are not addressed or, in short, Apple’s policies.
The requirements contained in that letter are:
- All company policies must keep digital and physical assets separate between the employee and Apple.
- Apple must provide fair, transparent, and equal rewards to employees.
- Third-party relationships must be audited
- All levels from staff to management are accountable.
- Create a transparent platform that accepts employee feedback and must listen to employees’ opinions.
Submitting a request through an open letter with such short paragraphs may not be exhaustive, but it can be seen that the main problem being talked about is the lack of a problem-solving system. This implication is made in one paragraph of the letter:
“Employees, despite the question-and-answer sessions held in different units, face a lot of resistance to their concerns. This has left people uncertain of who to trust and who to turn to solve their collective problems.”
Hundreds of us have reported examples of abuse, discrimination, and harassment. “Hundreds of us have submitted our reports through internal channels, but no assistance has been provided.”
Apple is also forcing its employees to sync their iCloud with the company, which they can use to access information. Foreign organizations are being asked by employees to review the company’s reporting structure.
It can be seen that Apple has not yet created a good working environment for employees. Hopefully, after this open letter and #AppleToo# movement, the company will come up with a satisfactory solution to the problems for employees
