Unsupported Wear OS apps still listed on Play Store

Telegram and Uber, which are listed in   “essential watch apps” section on the Play Store, are no longer compatible with Wear OS 3, a Reddit user named u/mannabhai has pointed out.

The list, may be compiled in haste by Google without confirmation, names Wear OS, Google Fit, Telegram, Google Keep, Uber, Google Maps, Citymapper, and Podcast.

It is known that Uber has lost support for Wear OS for a long time while its version on Telecom has been discontinued recently.

Wear OS 3 is a joint effort between Google and Samsung after it merged with Samsung’s Tizen OS.

Google revives, bigs bet on Wear OS 3

Last month, Galaxy Watch 4 was the first to debut with Wear OS 3. In the initial announcement, Google also said that only several older Wear OS smartwatches would get the new update.

Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3 GPS, TicWatch Pro 3, and the TicWatch E3 are lining up for the platform. Others like Fossil Gen 6 series, including the Michael Kors Access Gen 6 Bradshaw, will also run it.

The latest Wear OS 3 update offers a handful of tweaks, including refreshed Tiles from your favourite apps. The appearance of Tiles for Google News, Calendar, Weather, as well as the Alarm Clock, and others, have so far been renewed.

According to the giant, Tiles API will be made available to third-party developers like Spotify, Strava, etc.

On the back of Google’s acquisition of Fitbit, Wear OS 3 will have a few Fitbit staples, like new Active Zone Minutes Tile built-in. On top of that, the platform will introduce refreshed versions of apps like YouTube Music, Google Pay, and Google Maps.

Developers will also be able to get started building apps for the new Wear OS soon after Google updated the ‘App Quality’ guidelines for the platform.
